LUKE AXWORTHY

Luke Axworthy

Job title: University counselor, College of Education

Job location: 27th Avenue

What attracted you to GCU? I graduated in the spring of 2016 with a B.A. in communications, loved my four years at the University and felt it was the ideal place to start my career. I love everything about GCU. I BLEED purple!

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? I play golf! I try to get out as much as possible. I have played competitively for eight years.

What are you passionate about? People. I love having interactions with everyone I meet. Making that personal connection is something I strive for every single day.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? I love going to all the sporting events. My favorite, by far is the Waste Management Phoenix Open. The atmosphere is amazing, and I also really enjoy watching the pros play.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: Disney runs through my family’s blood. My grandfather was one of the original Dapper Dan barbershop quartet members when Disneyland first opened. Since then, a number of people in my family have worked there. My grandmother, aunt and father all have worked for Disney. I was lucky enough to do an internship with Walt Disney World last fall and winter.

What are you most proud of? Graduating from college. I struggled with school all the way up through high school. Grand Canyon University was the one place where I saw myself succeeding, and it paid off big time! Now I am looking to get my master’s degree and become the second most educated person in my family behind my dad.

Bible Verse

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. (Hebrews 11:13)
