Antelope Intros: LoriAnn Walker, Aysha Bell and Tonya Peters

Antelope Intros is a recurring GCU Today feature that introduces some of our new employees to the people around them in a way that is both fun and informative. Employees are eligible to be featured in the month following their orientation.

LORIANN WALKER

Job title:  Enrollment

Job location: Tempe

What attracted you to GCU?  Positive comments from my friends who also work here!

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? Karaoke – I love to sing – and if we sing ’80s, I am a happy clam.

What are you passionate about? Continuing your educational goals. If GCU is not your final home, make sure you are still learning!

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit?  Harkins and Oregano's. You can also find me in Phoenix for the First Fridays art show.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know:  I have played concert-level violin since I was 8.

What are you most proud of?  At the current moment, watching my sister and mom walk across that floor and grabbing their diplomas!

AYSHA BELL

Job title: Enrollment Counselor

Job location: Peoria

What attracted you to GCU? I have heard great things about GCU and I LOVE the fact that it’s a university with a Christian heritage.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? I adore spending time with my husband and daughters (12, 1) and watching movies.

What are you passionate about? Besides my faith and my family, I am passionate about music and self-development.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit?  I love to go to the museums, art galleries and, of course, the movie theatre!

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know:  I have been married for almost 12 years and my husband and I have quite an interesting story around when we met and got married.

What are you most proud of?  I am most proud of the fact that I went to college on an academic scholarship and completed my bachelor’s degree.  Not a huge feat for most, but my mother had only a fourth-grade education and I was the first on her side of the family to complete my education.  That was a big deal for my mom because she never got to finish her education and she passed away in 2009.  But I’m not finished.  I plan to utilize my benefit at GCU to complete my master's.

Bible Verse

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. (Hebrews 11:13)
