LAIRE HARRIS
Job title: Junior counselor supervisor
Job location: 27th Avenue
What attracted you to GCU? I absolutely love the values that GCU not only speaks about but also lives out! You can feel the culture of love and care for their students on campus, at events, online and even in the cohort programs. You typically don’t get to see (or feel) this type of environment in other businesses. I believe this is one of the many that makes GCU stand out.
What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? I love dancing. It’s so much fun! Every Sunday I praise dance at the beginning of our church service. My praise dancing is more of ballet, modern and jazz.
What are you passionate about? I am so passionate about assisting young women on self-development and guidance into adulthood and currently am working on assisting foster girls who age out of the foster care system. When I was high school I sought mentors to help me make those good choices in life, to learn how to be a leader. I didn’t really get that. So I want give back and become a positive mentor for another young girl.
What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? I don’t attend too many events, but when I do it is mostly the Lecrae concerts here at GCU. We go in and have a great time but also walk out feeling so moved by the positive messages in the songs. The best part of the songs is how they share their own testimony.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: I’m an actress! In the last eight years I have acted in three church plays and one play at Herberger Theater Center in Phoenix. I played the star role in “Another Cinderella Story,” a play that touched on forgiveness; It truly touched lives. I’m now getting ready for the next church play, called “Watch Night.”
What are you most proud of? I am proud of pushing myself into graduating with my associates degree in Business Management. Next move is completing my bachelor's in Psychology.

ANITA MOORE
Job title: Housing operations coordinator
Job location: Main campus
What attracted you to GCU? I was attracted to the vibe that I received from doing my own research on the institution, its spiritual teachings that are integrated within the curriculum and the fact that people here have a real service attitude for not just students, but for God.
What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? Adventure is key in life. I like to explore different parts of the U.S. and other countries. It brings me a sense of peace. I have enjoyed South Padre Island, Texas, because the culture there is very interesting. It is a place for tourists, so there are lots of restaurants and sites to explore. Nassau, Bahamas and Calica, Mexico, always were favorites because of the natives, beautiful shores and fun excursions in which you can participate. I'm very excited to visit Sedona in the near future and to experience all the beautiful things I have heard and researched. Jamaica and Dominican Republic are next.
What are you passionate about? I am passionate about hoops! I absolutely love basketball and couldn’t see life without it.
What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? I am new to Arizona, so I don’t have a favorite place to visit just yet. However, I did enjoy the Arizona State Fair. It was very different and more lively than the one in Detroit, my hometown.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: I am a retired semiprofessional basketball player, which is basically a part-time athlete.
What are you most proud of? Scoring 1,436 points in my high school basketball career and 1,049 points in my college basketball career. Also, I was able to play in the 2011 national championship game as a semipro athlete in the the Women's Blue Chip Basketball League.
