CASSAUNDRA SINGLETON

Cassaundra Singleton

Job title: University development counselor

Job location: North Texas Region outside of Dallas

What attracted you to GCU? Its Christian aspect, mission and community-outreach efforts.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? I love to travel. I try to take at least one short weekend trip each month. I go on a cruise every year with my family.

What are you passionate about? I am passionate about helping students pursue their goals. I believe in the benefits of higher education. It gives me great joy to encourage and motivate others to obtain a degree.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? My father lives in Chandler, and I enjoy visiting him. Each time I visit during the Christmas holiday, we go to Phoenix Zoo Lights.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: I played the drums from sixth grade through college. I received a band scholarship to attend college and have played every percussion instrument.

What are you most proud of? My children. My husband passed away unexpectedly the day before Thanksgiving in 2010. At the time, my youngest child was 3 and my oldest child was 16. Since then, my older children have graduated from high school and gone off to college. I am so proud of them for continuing on the road to success.

Bible Verse

Now as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples aside and said to them, "We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn Him to death and will turn Him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day He will be raised to life!" (Matthew 20:17-19)
