Antelope Intros: Bill Green and Bianca Bachman

Antelope Intros is a recurring GCU Today feature that introduces some of our new employees to the people around them in a way that is fun and informative. Employees are eligible to be featured in the month following their orientation.

BILL GREEN

Bill Green

Job title: Police officer

Job location: Main campus (Public Safety)

What attracted you to GCU? I heard about the new GCU Police Department, and God put it on my heart to retire from the California Highway Patrol after 22 years and join GCU. I had worked 11 years as an officer and 11 years as a sergeant, primarily in the Southern California desert — Indio, Banning, Joshua Tree and Barstow. I also worked in Humboldt County, in the northern region of California, for three years.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? I have been playing tennis for about 15 years and have found a new group of friends at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex. I coached boys' high school tennis at Yucca Valley High School in 2015 and 2016. I have coached girls' fast-pitch softball and boys' baseball for eight years and youth soccer for two years.  I love music and was inspired to learn to play when my daughter took lessons. I have an acoustic and a lead electric guitar and I am pretty horrible at it, but I make noise.

What are you passionate about? Spending time with my family. My wife and I enjoy hiking together, casual dining and watching movies. We moved to Surprise in January, but we’re still waiting on my daughter to graduate high school in Yucca Valley before we are all reunited full time.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? I have not done much since coming to Arizona, but the hiking trails in and around the area are amazing. I can’t wait to do more hiking and exploring.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: I have been married for 25 years and am still in love with my wife, Lori, who strengthens me daily.

What are you most proud of? My four children, Chris, Niki, Rachel and Miranda. God has given me four of the best kids in the world, and I truly am proud of each of them.

Bianca Bachman

BIANCA BACHMAN

Job title: University counselor, College of Education

Job location: Main campus

What attracted you to GCU? Before I became an employee, I already was attending GCU for my master’s in Professional Counseling.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? Fun depends on what I need. For instance, sometimes I like to just get together with friends, and other times I enjoy being alone and recharging that way.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? I was born in the heartland of Kansas and haven't been many places in the Valley. I would love to go to Sedona and do more hiking! I also have never seen the Grand Canyon; I know it isn’t in the Valley, but it still would be cool.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: I played collegiate club water polo as an undergrad. I started playing because a good friend invited me. I was a swimmer in high school, so that helped. I don’t play polo anymore after a couple of injuries, but I still do swim. I love being in the water!

What are you most proud of? Graduating from college with my bachelor’s degree.
