What attracted you to GCU? Since 2008, I have had the privilege of contracting with GCU for various marketing campaigns. GCU’s team is collaborative, nimble and forward-thinking. At 27th Avenue, the atmosphere is much like the campus — exciting and innovative. You truly feel the warmth of the Christian values that guide the University. One of GCU's human resources representatives says, “Have a blessed day,” in her voicemail greeting. I love that. The little things add up to very big things, and one example is a university that shapes students into ethical and globally minded professionals.
What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? Like many writer/artist types, I am a master hobbyist. At the top of my list are writing, reading, painting portraits, tinkering with graphic design, playing instruments (I've recently picked up guitar and piano), art history, relearning Italian, running with my local club, yoga and epic game nights with friends. My husband and I have fallen prey to TV binge-watching phenomenon. We are beyond the help of intervention. I also attend a very fun church.
What are you passionate about? My faith, family and community. I’m also passionate about work-life balance.
What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? Anywhere I can see, hear or cuddle nature. I usually run along the Gilbert canal system, past crowing roosters and the magnificent Wells Fargo horses. It’s fun to wake up early and see cows forehead-deep in troughs, peacock menageries and the occasional ostrich farm. I also run South Mountain, San Tan and the Superstitions. But I’m pregnant now, so a few squats in front of the TV will have to do.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: My most prized possession is a large chunk of shrapnel my great-uncle took to the head on the USS Nevada at Pearl Harbor. He not only lived through the attack but returned to service immediately upon recovery. I like to remember that we share the same stock.
What are you most proud of? My incoming baby — screaming at a restaurant near you this June.

ALEX RADCLIFF
Job title: Coordinator, online events

What attracted you to GCU? I came here first as a temp for an event planner on jury duty, but I ended up staying and wanting to come on full-time because I loved how GCU put academics first, holds employee satisfaction in high regard and works within the community to improve it. No other university to which I’ve been, and certainly no other company for which I’ve worked, has demonstrated these values in action as well as GCU has. I wanted to work for GCU because I wanted to work for a company that valued education and people in word and deed.
What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? I’m very much into narratives, so I end up watching a lot of movies and TV shows and reading a lot. I rely on Netflix for the first two and the Greater Phoenix Digital Library for the other. I also rely on my own imagination by writing my own work.
What are you passionate about? I’m passionate about three things: education, empathy and my writing. As such, I’ve always wanted to work at a university while also working on improving my writing career.
What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? I’m a bit of glutton, so all my favorite spots are restaurants. Because I grew up in the Valley I have a lot of favorites, especially Restaurant Mexico in Tempe, Akaihana Sushi & Grill in Phoenix, and Tim Finnegan’s Irish Restaurant in Metro Center.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: I’m a published and award-winning playwright, poet and short-story writer. The most prominent place I’ve been published is Playscripts. They publish books and sell licenses for my play, “The Two Halves of Andrew’s Brain.” The other place I have been published in print is Cow Creek Review, an annual literary magazine.
What are you most proud of? One of the things I’m most proud of is the professional author website I designed and published for myself three years ago. But as much as I love it, I’m considering doing it all over again because I’m able to afford a hosting package with more options now.
