Carlos Whittaker was the worship pastor and creative art director at Sandals Church in Riverside, Calif., for 10 years before pursuing a recording career. His life mission is to “ignite a movement of authenticity among all generations of Christians that morphs the face of the evangelical church into a place of being real with yourself, others and God.”
His music debut appeared in January with a self-titled EP. His full album, Ragamuffin Soul, will be released April 27. This alternative album is inspirational and definitely something to sing along to in the car.
My favorite song is the first track, “Rain It Down.” It is a song that I could see people praising God within church. It has a great melody and is the most upbeat of all the songs. Ragamuffin Soul includes 12 songs that are mostly worship and praise songs. Whittaker’s music can bring words of encouragement on a bad day and speak truth about God’s love for us.
