Career Services collaborated alongside the College of Education and K12 Educational Development for its second annual Jobs in Education Fair on Tuesday at Prescott Field.
Students learned about job opportunities across schools and districts beyond teaching, such as counselors, social workers, school nurses, substitute teachers, after-school aides, bus drivers and more.
This initiative originated out of the President’s Educational Advisory Council in the fall as one of the many ways in which GCU holistically supports the education industry.
GCU President Brian Mueller, the College of Education, Senior Vice President of K12 Educational Development Dr. Tacy Ashby and her team, and the school districts expressed how this would be another viable way to bring awareness to the myriad opportunities in education.
“This is an initiative GCU wants to continue to share with folks across GCU and GCE to ensure that the light is continuously shined on how GCU is supporting schools and districts,” said Aysha Bell, executive director of Career Services.
“A couple of key additions, which I think makes GCU so unique, is that the effort for this opportunity for our schools, districts and students is truly a joint collaboration. The College of Education was on hand to connect with the visiting schools and districts and had a table set up specifically to engage students. Dr. Tacy Ashby even visited the event to engage with our industry guests, while the Career Services team worked alongside Event Services, GCE Marketing and more for day-of logistics. This opportunity was also broadly promoted across of all of the colleges.
