When Colangelo College of Business students return to the Grand Canyon University campus in late August, they’ll be treated to a dazzling modernization on the first floor.
Construction started earlier this month on the T.W. Lewis Center for Student Success, which will provide several features designed to provide GCU students with more tools, greater avenues to employment and more exposure to the marketplace.
The upgrades were made possible as part of a five-year, $2 million commitment by the T.W. Lewis Foundation, which sponsored the T.W. Lewis Speaker Series last fall that showcased several prominent business executives to GCU to discuss their success, faith, wisdom and provide advice to students.
The series will continue this fall at the CCOB lobby with improved acoustics.
But that is only one of several features tailored for students with varied pursuits.
Students looking for a job or an internship will have access to a digital signage board posting openings.
For those interested in the stock market, a ticker posted near the ceiling will provide updates.
A broadcast studio and podcast room are being installed in the middle of the building on the first floor. They are designed to produce content, such as a segment on that day’s events or a recap or a replay of a guest at the T.W. Lewis Speaker Series.
Construction is expected to take only one month, allowing ample time to test the new equipment before students arrive.
CCOB Dean John Kaites envisions the facility will provide advantages that most business colleges don’t currently possess and will prepare traditional and online students for job opportunities through personal development.
