1980s
Kristy Hjort, B.S. in Physical
Education, ’84,
is a senior
corporate recruiter for Phoenix-
based Avnet. She and her
husband, Michael Hjort, met at
GCU. They have two children and
live in Round Rock, Texas.
1990s
Michael Hjort, B.A. in History,
’92, andM.Ed. in Secondary
Education, ’98,
has been teaching
for 17 years, including the last five
at Rouse High School, in Leander,
Texas, where he is the chairman
of the Social Studies department
and teaches AP U.S. history.
Rhett Smith, B.S. in
Psychology, ’97,
is
a licensed marriage
and family therapist
in Plano, Texas. In
2012, Smith published his first
book, “The Anxious Christian: Can
God Use Your Anxiety for Good?,”
which addresses his personal
struggle with anxiety and how
his experience at GCU played a
significant role in facing it. His
second book, “What it Means
to be a Man: God’s Design for
Us in a World Full of Extremes,”
focusing on developing healthy
relationships and emotions for
men, was published in 2013.
Roderick Logan,
B.S. in Applied
Management, ’98,
also has an M.A. in
Christian Studies:
Biblical Counseling fromMaster’s
International School of Divinity
and is writing his dissertation
for a Doctor of Philosophy in
Theology. Logan is an adoption
specialist for the Christian Family
Care Agency in Phoenix and
has placed more than a dozen
children in the last six months.
Amy Gerak,
B.A. in English
and History, ’98,
is
worship director at
Grace Fellowship
Church in Buckeye, Ariz. Gerak,
the mother of twins, released
an independent album, “Asaph’s
Daughter,” in which many of
the songs are derived from the
Psalms.
2000s

B.A. in
Communications
andPublicRelations,
’02,
is apartner and
president of the salesdivision for the
TouchAgency, a salesmanagement
and consulting company for food
andbeverage brands.
Anissa Picard, M.A. in
Teaching, ’05,
and her husband,
Stephane, launched a new
album, “Ecliptic Flare,” under
their electronic music label,
Pure Zik Recordings. The couple
lives in France.
Dominick Miller,
M.Ed. in Education
Administration,
’06,
was named
principal of
Eisenhower Middle School in
Succasunna, N.J. Miller has
worked in education for 14 years.
Robert Dube,
B.S. in Public Safety
Administration,
’07, andM.S. in
Executive Fire
Service Leadership, ’09,
was
appointed fire chief in Alexandria,
Va. Dube is a third-generation
firefighter with more than 30
years of experience in fire and
emergency medical services.
Treva Hackett,
M.Ed. in Curriculum
and Instruction:
Technology, ’08,
has been a special
education teacher for 10 years
and was named teacher of the
year at Carolyn Park Middle
School in Slidell, La., in 2012-
13. Hackett also is president of
the school’s Parent Teacher
Association.
Jeremy Greene,
B.S. in Human
Biology, ’08, and
Angela (Dunbar)
Greene, B.S. in
Nursing, ’12,
met at GCU, married
in 2013 and recently had a baby,
Aliyah Joy. He is the anatomy
instructor for A.T. Still University
in Mesa, and she is a nurse at
Urgent Care Extra in Tempe.

M.Ed. in Education

’09, and Ed.D in
Organizational
Leadership: Instructional
Leadership, ’13,
launched Kost
Services, LLC, which prepares
students with test-taking skills
and curriculum to help them
achieve in school. Kost has
self-published several series of
books that help students with
various skills.
