In its 11th year, the Canyon Challenge has a new name – the Trinity GCU Canyon Challenge.

The biannual entrepreneurial competition also has a new sponsor – Trinity Capital, which will supply two of the three judges for the 4 p.m. event Friday at Canyon Ventures.

The final five and their startups:

  • Joshua Helm, The Bear Game: A fun, family-friendly card game.
  • Panashe Bvundura, Toxic University: Unique and customizable T- shirts and apparel.
  • Jayce Candrea, Washed Clothing: A T-shirt company that aims to give back to the homeless community by providing clean clothing.
  • Luis Peña Espinoza, Conext: A social media platform designated for business collaborations and meetings.
  • Esther Nies, Tailor: A browser extension/application that aids customers in buying the right size clothing when shopping online and in-store.

The finalists, chosen from 12 entrants, were selected through an elimination process at the weekly Shark Tank. They will try to convince the judges to grant them a piece of the $5,000 in prize money provided by Trinity Capital.

Kevin Youngblood, Canyon Ventures’ Entrepreneur in Residence, will be the other judge.

Bible Verse

For this is what the high and lofty One says — He who lives forever, whose name is holy: "I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite." (Isaiah 57:15)
