GCU doesn’t have anywhere near the number of employees at its office space on the third floor of the Camelwest office building on Camelback Road as it does on the main campus or Peoria or Tempe sites.

But, with about 80 employees, what Camelwest lacks in quantity it certainly makes up for in spirit. Just check out the “Candy Cane Cove” in this slideshow of Christmas decorations from the main campus area (the ground campus, Camelwest and Annex I and II), and you’ll see what we mean.

The Quality Assurance employees from the Office of Financial Aid pulled out all the stops, creating a “K Jewelers” storefront (with a spiffy-looking bookcase-turned-fireplace) from Kristina Morrow, a candy shop in Tamra Cluff’s cubicle, Nicole Grant sitting in a giant present, a church where Jason Rhodes resides, Holly McFarland’s log cabin, Michelle Stephens in her ornamental surroundings, Chris Heyne in Santa’s workshop and Diana Valle peering through the window of her Santa’s office.

There was no decorating contest or prize given to the most spirited cubicle. As the QA employees explained it, they just started working on their decorations … and didn’t know when to stop.

“For some reason, everybody had trouble getting into the Christmas spirit,” said Janis Belcher, manager of the QA team. “All I had to do (to change that) was show them a couple pictures of office decorations and turn them loose. They stayed late and worked on it during their lunch hours. … We go all out for the holidays.”
