Slideshow: Construction Ahead of Schedule
With an Aug. 15 deadline just over a month away, project director for campus development Charlie Sirkoman is happy to report that things are ahead of schedule for the many construction projects on campus. In fact, Camelback Hall is near completion and the offices for Public Safety, ROTC, IT Support and Student Disability Services will begin moving into the ground floor of that residence hall as early as next week.
For now, Sirokman gave GCU Today a tour of the CAS Building, Student Union and North Gym Lecture Halls — for which we have posted a slideshow below. Some things you may not know:
- The huge wall mural that depicted an oceanfront beach scene in the Student Union? Gone. The “palm tree” pillars will also be repainted. In their place is a cleaner, more modern look.
- The first floor of the CAS Building is about 90 percent complete with flooring, paint and wall coverings. We also got a sneak peek of some of the labs and the nursing simulation rooms on the upper floors.
- Concrete for the elevated seating areas in the four lecture halls in the northern part of North Gym is in place. Each lecture hall can seat 99 students.
