Staff Picks is a feature of the Herd on Campus where the faculty and staff of GCU share their favorite restaurants, date spots, activities and more. It’s the “best of” Phoenix according to GCU. If your favorite isn’t listed here, make sure you leave it in the comments section.

GCU staff picks the best pizza in Phoenix.

John-Paul Reiger, Student Development Director
Spinato’s Pizza on Glendale and 12th St. Mmmmmmm good!”

JP Tanner. Resident Director – Canyon Hall
CIBO on Fillmore and 5th Ave. It’s better than Pizzeria Bianco without the wait.”

Sauce (Glendale and 7th St.). They have a pizza with a Chicken Ceasar Salad on top!”

Mik Milem, Dean of Students
“My wife’s homemade pizza. Available at the Ohio State vs. Michigan game party, and any late movie planned at my house. Students are always welcome!”

Dr. Kevin Barksdale, KBCOB Dean
BJ’s in Desert Ridge (2101 N. Tatum Blvd.). They have the most outstanding cheeseburger pizza. It is about an inch and a half thick and, of course…low fat!”

Robyn Itule, Social Media Strategist
Pizzeria Bianco on 7th St., south of Roosevelt.”

Danielle Rinnier, Student Ministries Coordinator
“Try La Piazza al Forno in downtown Glendale (5803 W. Glendale Ave.)! I found it after watching an episode of Diners’ Drive-Ins and Dives. They have the best white pizza I have ever had!”

SCLICES in Downtown Tempe off of Mill Ave and 6th Street (Eastern side of Mill). The slices are incredible, tons of amazing toppings and combinations, and the slices are HUGE (not to mention cheap).

Oregano’s (several locations in the Valley) has a deep dish pizza that sounds like the one Kevin Barksdale describes from BJ’s. To die for.

For those of you on Campus, Angie and Jimmy’s pizza is on Indian School and 32nd Ave. It’s next to a Circle K and across the street from Bill Johnson’s. It’s cheap, it’s greasy, and it’s good.

Still the best pizza is Angie and Jimmy’s Pizza on Indian School and 32nd Ave. We used to hold dorm meeting there back in the 80′s!!!

Cibo Pizzeria in downtown phoenix has a great atmsophere for outdoor dining and is always packed with people. The pizza is cooked in a wood fire oven and has the freshest ingredients. It is a small house with a cottage feel, owned by a husband and wife from Italy. You will very often see them servivg or cooking as they are very involved in running the restaurant. Love it!!

My family loves Mellow Mushroom pizza. I think there’s only one in town at Happy Valley Rd. and I-17. Great pizza, great atmosphere, so take a ride up north and check it out.
