Thank you message to two GCU 'angels'

GCU News Bureau

EDITOR'S NOTE: This message is being posted on behalf of 88-year-old Marjorie Farrier, who wanted to reach out to the Grand Canyon University community and to two unknown GCU or Grand Canyon Education “angels” who came to her aid.

Marjorie Farrier was driving near 35th Avenue and Northern on May 19 when she experienced car trouble and was unable to steer her vehicle. She said she had to really “manhandle” the steering wheel to maneuver her car into a parking lot. She got out and popped the hood and was about to call AAA when she said two “angels on their lunch break from GCU” asked if she needed help. They noticed a problem with the power steering belt and offered to go get a replacement while she waited in a nearby air-conditioned bank.

Farrier came out of the bank later to find the two individuals replacing the belt themselves while also bringing water for her radiator. Marjorie said she wanted to pay them for the part (which cost $39) as well as their services.

“But they refused,” Farrier said, “saying that I had probably helped others in my life. The only thing they allowed me to do was give them a hug.”

Farrier added that she was so shook up that she didn’t get the two individuals’ names.

“All I know of my angels is that they were on their lunch break from Grand Canyon University.

“In this time of divisiveness, what a breath of fresh air to find kindness and generosity from complete strangers still exists,” she said. “Please let them know my appreciation for these two gentlemen.”

(God told Moses to look at the Promised Land, since he was not going to cross this Jordan, then God said:) "Commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he will lead this people across and will cause them to inherit the land that you will see." (Deuteronomy 3:28)
