‘We’re here for hope:’ Run to Fight begins 9th season

Time stood still Friday night at GCU Stadium for a group of families battling cancer. For those few hours, it was OK to take a break from the fight. The ninth annual Run to Fight Children’s Cancer event kicked off it’s season at the men’s soccer game, with children donning gold superhero capes getting the chance to walk out and be introduced with the Lopes’ soccer team. Run to Fight has raised nearly $600,000 for families battling the disease since its inception in 2011. This year’s race is scheduled for March 16.

First engineering cohort on the job at recruitment fair

Grand Canyon University will hit another milestone in 2019, when its first engineering graduates will walk the stage. But before then, those students are busy brushing up their resumes and getting connected with industry, such as at Friday’s Engineering and Technology Job/Internship Fair at GCU Arena. Students spoke with companies such as Paradox, whose flagship product is an artificial intelligence human resources tool named Olivia, as well as Kroger, which was looking for engineers for its project management team, and Benchmark Electronics, which is developing an Engineering Center of Excellence in Tempe.
