GCU basketball camps offering scholarships

The sports camps at Grand Canyon University are bigger and better than ever this year, and there’s an added bonus for elementary school boys who live in west Phoenix: They might qualify for scholarships that would allow them to attend a camp for free. Local school administrators will choose a total of 50 deserving kids.

GCU alums minister to needs of Ugandans during medical mission trip

GCU Today Magazine A group of health care professionals who studied together at Grand Canyon University before going to medical school traveled to western Uganda last year to bring medical care and God’s love to people for whom modern necessities are scarce. Among them were Dr. David Engstrom and his wife, Jamie, a physician’s assistant, who operate Pinnacle Family Medicine in Litchfield Park, Drs. Hiring uptick helps GCU grads chart career paths

After hiring 67 of its own graduates in 2014, Grand Canyon University so far this year has hired 28 others for entry-level positions that help them chart meaningful career paths and earn master’s degrees. New GCU nursing college dean comes full circle

The new dean of GCU’s College of Nursing and Health Care Professions has four degrees, a 20-year nursing career and nearly two dozen research papers and projects on her resume. But there is something more that Dr. Melanie D. Logue wants you to know about her: She is GCU. Online education fueling student’s IndyCar dream

GCU online student T.J. Fischer might be the perfect example of the type of student the University’s online program is designed for. Fischer grew up racing go-karts in Vacaville, Calif., and earned a spot in one of the United Kingdom’s tops open-wheel Mazda Car circuits last March after tearing up California tracks. The move to the UK forced him to choose between a traditional education at Pacific Lutheran University or racing. He found GCU through a friend and used the flexibility of online learning to climb the ladder and join the 2015 Renault series across Europe this year. GCU volleyball pair left their mark in the sand

It has been a great spring for Grand Canyon University athletic teams, but there was another accomplishment that also was significant: Sand volleyball players Mackenzie Phelps and Shannon Dugan reached the semifinals of the national tournament. Their success was fueled by a partnership that’s a winner on and off the court.

Banner day: Lopes make the grade with two titles

They did it — twice! On the single biggest day in GCU athletics since its transition to Division I two years ago, the Lopes clinched the Western Athletic Conference regular-season baseball championship by defeating Sacramento State on Saturday afternoon, and then the lacrosse team won the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association national title by knocking off Colorado.
