Philosopher bares his soul in campus talks

Faculty and students both turned out in large numbers Tuesday and Wednesday to hear Dr. J.P. Moreland, a prominent Christian philosopher from Biola University who takes delight in refuting neuroscience’s claims about the soul.

LoGo students cleanse spirits through homeless outreach

Grand Canyon University students shared their love for humanity early Thursday by washing the feet of homeless people and helping in other ways in the homeless community in central Phoenix. The effort was organized through GCU’s Office of Spiritual Life through a partnership with Phoenix Dream Center’s Church on the Street.

Colangelo Scholarships to transform students’ lives

The Colangelo Scholarships, a new initiative in the Colangelo College of Business, were awarded this week, and the emotions of the high school seniors were off the charts when CCOB Dean Dr. Randy Gibb and a purple-shirted contingent, including Thunder, descended upon them to share the news. The three recipients are from Alhambra, Maryvale and Valley Christian high schools.

Colangelo shares pearls of wisdom with GCU management team

By popular demand, Phoenix sports business icon Jerry Colangelo, for whom the University’s College of Business is named, on Wednesday addressed about 450 GCU managers, directors, faculty, deans and administrators. Colangelo answered questions and shared inspirational quotes and guiding principles, including this familiar one: “Your relationship with your Lord, your family, your business is the pecking order. When people get messed up it’s when that order gets messed up.”

Teens, robots swarming campus for STEM showdown

For many students, high school robotics events get them interested in the STEM disciplines they will eventually study in college. If this week is any indication, as Grand Canyon University Arena hosts the West Regional of the Arizona FIRST Robotics Competition, the showdowns are wildly popular and filled with the showmanship of major sporting events. The event is free and open to the public beginning at 8:30 a.m. both days.

No. 1 GCU men’s lacrosse team to face Arizona State

The No. 1-ranked GCU men’s lacrosse team plays No. 3 Arizona State April 4 for control of the conference. GCU has a chance to win a national championship in 2015. Senior leadership and knowledgeable coaches have propelled the Lopes to the top program in the country in GCU’s fourth year as an MCLA club sport.
