Antelope Intros: Tracey Berghian, Scott Summers and Christine Sullivan

Antelope Intros is a recurring GCU Today feature that introduces some of our new employees to the people around them in a way that is fun and informative. Employees are eligible to be featured in the month following their orientation.

TRACEY BERGHIAN

Job title: Diving coach

Job location: Kaibab

What attracted you to GCU? I just completed my master of science in leadership at GCU and saw a huge opportunity with swimming and diving as they transitioned into NCAA Division I.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? Adult gymnastics at Scottsdale Gymnastics & Trampoline.

What are you passionate about? Education, sports and how to incorporate both into life.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? I'm a fan of the Arizona Cardinals and love going to their home games.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: I am a huge Harry Potter fan.

What are you most proud of? The day I graduated with my bachelor's degree and my entire family drove to New Mexico to watch me receive my diploma.

SCOTT SUMMERS

Job title: Enrollment counselor

Job location: Peoria

What attracted you to GCU?  I love that GCU is a Christian-based company with leadership that does the right thing for the students and employees.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? I enjoy playing and singing worship songs, and I lead worship for the junior and senior high students at my church.

What are you passionate about? I am passionate about music: finding new artists, listening to my favorite bands, playing worship and cover songs, and sometimes writing my own songs.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? I love a good concert (Switchfoot at the GCU Arena did not disappoint), a good burger (the pepper-crusted gorgonzola burger from the Yard House, to be specific), and a good movie ("The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" is almost here!).

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: I have a brother who plays for the Minnesota Twins. He’s in the minors right now, but on his way up!

What are you most proud of? I am most proud of my family.  I have a beautiful wife, Brooke, who stays at home with our 7-month-old son, Owen, and they both mean the world to me.

CHRISTINE SULLIVAN

Job title: Enrollment counselor/College of Doctoral Studies

Job location: Tempe

What attracted you to GCU?  After working in the behavioral health field for more than a decade, I was very interested in getting into another field, while still helping others. Working in the higher-education field met that interest. Working at GCU was very appealing because of the great growth the company has experienced and the Christian values it holds.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? For fun, I love to cook. I love making goodies and bringing them to others who enjoy a treat or a home-cooked meal. I am also working on improving my fitness and am actively training to run in a 5k in the near future.

What are you passionate about? I am passionate about self-improvement. I hope to continue my education and possibly work on my second master's degree or a Ph.D.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? I enjoy hiking at Usery Mountain Regional Park in Mesa; boating, swimming and fishing at Saguaro Lake; and jogging along the many canals.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: I used to participate in triathlons and long-distance biking. I am super competitive, and to reach these accomplishments is the best feeling.

What are you most proud of? My biggest accomplishment is my son. I am so proud of what an amazing kid he is -- and the kind, loving individual he is actively becoming. They say that kids are a reflection of us, and I am truly proud of that reflection!

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)
