Meet the Tempe Educators basketball team

It’s not exactly the Lakers vs. the Celtics, but Wednesday’s exhibition basketball game between employees of GCU’s Peoria and Tempe offices has plenty of hype just the same. The teams will play at halftime of the GCU-Chaminade men’s game.

Peoria Enrollment Counselor Back in the Game After Cancer

Wednesday night’s exhibition basketball game between GCU’s Peoria and Tempe employees will mark a comeback of sorts for Jamie Frey, a former college player who had to postpone her degree while battling health problems. Frey has since completed her degree in justice studies with GCU.

Guest Artist to Teach Dunham Dance Technique on Campus

Keith Williams, well-versed in the modern dance style pioneered by the legendary Katherine Dunham, will teach and lecture on campus during the coming week. Williams has his own St. Louis-based company, Innervision Dance Theatre, which is involved in intergrating the arts into school curriculum.

Ely, Bruns Narrowly Elected to ASGCU’s Top Two Positions

Sophomore Nick Ely and junior Trent Bruns were elected president and vice president of Associated Students of Grand Canyon University (ASGCU) for 2012-13, defeating the tandems of Amber Christenberry and Andrew Cuckie and Mallory Freeman and James Prigge in a closely contested election.

6-Year-Old Starter of GCU Cancer Run Spreads Message of Hope

Grace Kostyk of north Phoenix, who has acute lymphoblastic leukemia, will be the face of two races to be held on the GCU campus on March 10. The Run to Fight Children’s Cancer, which is back after a successful October debut, will donate all proceeds to the Children’s Cancer Network.

Unique ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ a Stroke of Genius

The Shakepearean play revolves around the confusing and often zany romantic antics of four characters: Lysander (Jake Swanson), Demetrius (Drew Swaine), Hermia (Elizabeth Pabst) and Helena (Krystle Brumm). All four actors are flat-out terrific in their roles, and keeping it all straight is secondary to enjoying what’s going on.

GCU Announces 401(k) Matching Contribution for 2011

The University is pleased to announce a matching contribution to the 401(k ) retirement savings plan for employees. For 2011, consistent with the 2010 plan year, GCU will match 30 percent of your deferral up to a 3 percent maximum deferral rate — in other words, 30 cents on the dollar of the first 3 percent an employee contributes. The 2011 401(k) matching contribution will be posted to the 401(k) accounts of eligible employees on Feb. 10, 2012. To view your account, go to Fidelity’s website at www.netbenefits.com. To view the amount of your matching contribution, click on the “Transaction History” link located on the left section of the screen. Then click on the “Source” tab. This will display transactions in the last 30 days. While you are on Fidelity’s website, you may want to consider changing your contribution amount or your investment elections. To do so, click on the “Contribution Amount” or “Change Investments” links located on the left side of the screen.
