GCU’s Sarah Boeder Integrates Faith and Work

As GCU’s senior vice president of campus operations, Sarah Boeder makes things happen. She oversees admissions, academic counseling and finance counseling and everything they involve. Married for 10 years and the mother of two children, ages 6 and 4, Boeder has been with the University for three years and held a variety of positions in that time.

GCU Prepares for Launch of LoudCloud

Grand Canyon University soon will launch LoudCloud, a new learning management system. GCU will transition students out of ANGEL and into LoudCloud over time on a program- by-program basis. This strategy will ensure that dedicated resources are available for those students as they become familiar with their enhanced learning environment.

Air Force Commander Harris Big on Empowerment

“There’s no way one person can do it all.” That was the theme of Thursday’s talk by Brig. Gen. Jerry D. Harris Jr., the guest speaker at this month’s CEO Lecture Series put on by GCU in partnership with AZ Business magazine. As commander of the 56th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base, Harris’ job is to train F-16 pilots and maintainers while deploying mission-ready warfighters for the largest fighter wing in the U.S. Air Force.

Though a World Away, GCU Alum to Join Cancer Run

Runners and walkers in GCU’s inaugural Run to Fight Children’s Cancer will be joined in spirit and in deed by a man almost 10,000 miles away in Nairobi, Kenya. GCU alumnus Frank Kirimi recently came across the GCU Today story about 4-year-old Olivia Baumgardner, who has battled leukemia and will serve as honorary starter for the 5K and 10K races taking place Oct. 15 on campus.

Senior nursing student Heather McKean has her sights set on graduation, and then a future in forensic nursing. She credits her friend and fellow nursing student Kim Wright with helping her succeed in the GCU nursing program. “Find a classmate that thinks like you do,” she advises. “Connect with someone you can study with and support each other.”

Traveling Team Makes a Missions Stop at GCU

A Ford minivan filled with four people, fueled by Jesus’ Great Commission and stopping at every college campus on the map is no ordinary vehicle. It’s a four-wheeled missile for world change. “If there’s a revolution you want to start, take it to college students,” reasons Morgan Parker, who visited the GCU campus on Tuesday evening along with three other representatives of The Traveling Team.

Pastor Tim Addresses Morning Chapel

Using the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5 as his text, Dean of Students Pastor Tim Griffin quoted the words of Jesus that “you are the light of the world” at this morning’s Chapel. “Understand how God sees you,” Griffin told those assembled. “He sees you as the light of the world. My prayer is that you would see the platform God has given you. Collectively, we have a wonderful opportunity at Grand Canyon. God might want to raise us up as a burning torch in this part of Phoenix.”
