As students return to campus, many of them are looking for work opportunities that fit their busy class schedule. Federal and Non-Federal Work Study programs are a great fit, allowing students to work up to 20 hours a week.
In addition to a paycheck, these jobs provide students with new skills and experience they can add to their resumes. It also adds an extra set of hands to busy GCU departments.
According to Mary Askew, GCU Career Services Advisor, research studies have reported that the positive effects of student employment include:

- Increased students’ levels of affinity with university
- Increased positive learning outcomes and cognitive growth

- Develop a standard job description
- Ask Career Services to create a job posting
- Speak with and interview potential applicants
When you are ready to hire a student worker, send Career Services the following information:
- Student Worker Name
- Job Title
- Phone Number
- SS# or Student ID#
- Start Date
- Pay Rate
- Status: New or Rehire
