Student Worker of the Month: Josh Girgenti

The Office of Career Services has chosen Josh Girgenti as its Student Worker of the Month.

Girgenti is a sophomore with a dual major in health-care and business administration. As a worker in the Antelope Reception Center in GCU Arena, he serves as a receptionist and is the assistant to the ARC’s director, Shannon Landers.

“He is an excellent leader and a great motivator,” Landers says. “Josh exemplifies Christian camaraderie. His willingness to serve is clear in his excellent customer service and leadership qualities.”

Girgenti also oversees the Lope Leaders and is the student point of contact for Discover GCU and many other campus events.

“We try to represent GCU in a way that gets students excited,” he says. “They get excited because they see how excited we are. My job is to get people psyched.”

A transfer student from Arizona State University, Girgenti fell in love with GCU and its family atmosphere.

“I want to serve people any way that I can,” he says. “My two degrees and my pursuit of a pastoral position are all designed for me to be in a position where I can advocate for people.”

After he earns his bachelor’s, he would like to stick with GCU as he pursues an MBA with an emphasis in leadership. Girgenti is a believer in Dr. Ken Blanchard’s vision of servant leadership — and tries to live it.

“Life comes at you fast, and the best thing we can do is love people,” he says. “Whatever we say and do is a reflection of who we are.”

He takes his personal motto from Micah 6:8: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Bible Verse

"Consider carefully what you hear," Jesus continued. "With the measure you use, it will be measured to you — and even more. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him." Mark 4:24-25

Jesus continued His message, saying, "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." (John 4:23-24)
