GC+You: Choose to Expect Greatness

GC+You is a weekly blog contributed by GCU Dean of Students Tim Griffin and Student Development Director John-Paul Reiger.

What a great time of the year!

For most of us at GCU, we spent some of the summer months recovering from last semester.  However, at some point, we shift gears in preparation for the next school year.

After many conversations and meetings… you just kind of hit a wall. The feeling in the air seems to be, “let’s get the new year going… bring it on!”.

The very reason most of us work in education is to help students become the person God is leading them to be. To partner with God in a university setting is a great opportunity to shape lives. The very fact we have the privilege to work in such an environment inspires and motivates the vast majority of us. So, with ‘move-in’ just days away, there is excitement amongst the faculty and staff.

None of us really know what a school year may bring. That, in and of itself, creates a certain tension. Some experience worry and dread while others are filled with optimism and excitement for new beginnings.

What are you sensing? Do you see the semester as an opportunity for great things or difficulty? Are you worried or excited?

I think this is going to be a GREAT year! I’m choosing to expect incredible things at GCU this year…

Bible Verse

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)
