Slideshow: Arena Job Walk 6.7.11

On Tuesday’s monthly tour of the Arena construction site, Superintendent Neil Baker of Perini Construction said the facility is only 85 days from its scheduled completion by Sept. 1.

“That’s exciting to me,” Baker said. “I think I’ll take off work on Day No. 86.”

Installation of the permanent seating will begin next week, and the big south-end scoreboard will go in on June 20. The locker rooms are only about two weeks from being finished.

This week, workers were tiling restrooms throughout the building. The concrete flooring, on which the basketball court will be laid, is in place and so is the railing in the seating sections. Air conditioning will be completed soon, after which the building will be sealed to the outside.

Only two job-walk tours of the site remain before the Arena’s opening: at 3:30 p.m. on July 5 and Aug. 2.
