Antelopes Bring Holiday Hoops to St. Vincent de Paul

The Antelope men’s basketball team unpacked a Santa-sized sack of Christmas cheer Tuesday afternoon in visits to separate St. Vincent de Paul facilities in downtown Phoenix. The athletes and coaches stopped first at the homeless facility on West Jackson Street to put on a clinic for the adults there. A makeshift court was installed in the parking lot as the players and their hosts engaged in spirited shooting and ballhandling games.

GCU Junior Making Impression as Fiesta Bowl Queen

Only Santa himself could have been busier this month than Fiesta Bowl Queen Lindsay Fernandez. The GCU junior from Peoria recently wrapped up final exams for the semester, only to see her schedule hit overdrive with activities related to three bowl games and a parade. “You have to be really organized,” said Fernandez, and fortunately she is.

Student Workers Create Ornaments for Winning Tree

Carmen Grijalva never had much for Christmas — and, truthfully, she still doesn’t. But that doesn’t keep her from wanting to give to others. Grijalva and about two dozen other workers at the center produced handmade ornaments for the tree, which was chosen as the best entry in Friday’s “Season for Sharing” outreach event in the North Gym.
