Freshman From Goodyear Wins iPod in Giveaway

Alejandra Ramos, a freshman from Goodyear majoring in nursing, won an iPod Shuffle from Liberty Mutual Insurance at the recent University Fair on the GCU campus.

The fair attracted more than 600 students to North Gym on Wednesday, Sept. 8, and was considered so successful that another one is being planned for January.

Ramos collected her prize from Jon Beaty of Phoenix, who graduated from GCU in accounting in 2006 before going to work for Liberty Mutual. The company gives back 2 percent of what it earns from each alumni policy in its first year and 1 percent thereafter.

According to Beaty, close to 500 GCU alums are now insured by his company, which also offers discounts on home and auto insurance for University employees.

Ramos, who lives in Hegel Hall, says she chose GCU after learning about its nursing program while a student at Desert Edge High School.

“As soon as I visited, I just loved it,” she says. “Everybody’s spirit is so positive here.”

Beaty, who has been a presence on campus in various ways, says he’s not done academically at GCU. He’s planning to study for a master’s degree in finance.

Bible Verse

"Consider carefully what you hear," Jesus continued. "With the measure you use, it will be measured to you — and even more. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him." Mark 4:24-25

Jesus continued His message, saying, "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." (John 4:23-24)
