Canyon Hall Freshman Wins $50 Gift Card

Caley Dishman, a freshman from Ventura County, Calif., won a $50 gift card to Oregano’s restaurant in a random drawing sponsored by the Communications staff at move-in on Thursday, Aug. 26.

Dishman, who is enrolled in the College of Nursing, is a fourth-floor resident of the new Canyon Hall. She pronounced her first full day on campus a success.

“It has been busier than I thought, which is good,” she said. “So far, all of the staff and leaders have been nice and welcoming.”

She said she first visited GCU in the spring, when the new residence hall was far from completed — and the weather was considerably cooler.

“I’m trying to get used to the heat,” she said.

Winners of military-green GCU caps in the drawing were: Gretchen Adickes, Candace Dale, Ashley Elwood, Chris Ferguson, Erick James, Keelan Mercer, Jamie Mones, Angelica Nunez, Melody Rios, Michelle Ryan, Lindsey Sanchez, Christa Tovar, Tiffany Turkenkopf, Megan Weaver and Molly Yoder.

Caps can be picked up at Building 3 from Doug Carroll or Zane Ewton of the Communications staff.

Students who indicated an interest in contributing to the online Herd or the print publication FYP will be contacted by the Communications staff. A first meeting will be held in mid-September.

Bible Verse

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)
